HISTORY
The Audi R8 is a prototype that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2005. The Audi after the successes of the previous Audi R8 n.5, for the second year decides not to participate with an official team, but to give its sports cars to private teams.
The American Champion Racing team with Frank Biella, Allan McNish and Emanuele Pirro at the wheel of the Audi R8 n.2 finished third at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2005 with a gap of six laps to winner. The race won by Audi R8 n.3 with Jirki Jarvi Lehto, Marco Werner and Tom Kristensen. In the second place finished the Pescarolo C60H-Judd n.16 with Emmanuel Collard, Jean-Christophe Bouillon, Eric Comas. Despite the limitations imposed by the Federation, the Audi decided to set the race on reliability not having the top speed of Pescarolo, which turned five seconds on the fastest lap but suffered two long pit stops that prevented the recovery.
