HISTORY

The Cooper – Climax T51 is a car that participated at the Formula 1 World Championship in 1960. Thanks to the insight of John Cooper, the victory of the Ferrari 246 in the 1958 world championship was the last of a car with a front engine. The T51 derived from a Formula 2 car with a Coventry Climax engine mounted at the rear.

The Yeoman Credit Racing Team with Olivier Gendebien at the wheel of Cooper – Climax T51 finished sixth at the Formula 1 World Championship 1959 with ten points in season.
The Australian driver Jack Brabham with the Cooper – Climax T53 won the Formula 1 World Championship 1959.
