The 2016 Porsche 919 hybrid is the third evolution of the initial design of 2014 is part of the LMP1-H prototype category, has two engines: a thermal fueled petrol, flanked by an electric powered by a lithium ion battery. The Porsche 919 hybrid uses two energy recovery systems, from exhaust gases and braking.
The thermal engine, a 90 cc V4 of 2000 cc, supercharged by a turbocharger, is capable of delivering a power of 370 kW. While the hybrid system brought to the Porsche 8 MJ transmitted a power of 290 kw to the front.

The German Porsche Team with Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber and Brandon Hartley at the wheel of the Porsche 919 hybrid n.1 finished thirteenth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016.

Despite being the favorite for the Le Mans 24-hour victory, the Porsche 919 hybrid n.1 had a problem during the race and forced the car to a long stop. The recovery attempt failed, and I crossed the finish line in thirteenth position to 38 laps from the sister car, the Porsche n.2, winner of a race that saw yet another defeat of the Toyota, which lost the race due to a technical problem three minutes from the end while he was largely in the lead.
