The British March F1 team with Karl Wendlinger at the wheel of March – Ilmor CG911B n.16 finished twelfth in the Formula 1 World Championship in 1992 with three points in season. The best result of the Austrian driver was the fourth place at the Canada Grand Prix on the Montreal circuit.

Although teammate French driver Paul Belmondo scored no points, March finished ninth in the constructors’ championship.

The title driver championship was won by Alain Prost with the Williams – Renault FW15C n.2
