HISTORY

The Porsche 917 K is the car that participated at the 24 Hours of Daytona of 1970. The German manufacturer decided to win his first 24 hours of Le Mans, follow the suggestion of Team John Wyer Automotive Engineering, solving the problem of instability affecting the 917, the rear was shortened and raised creating a sort of arrow profile that also improved the cooling of the rear mechanics. The J.W. Enginnering team with Pedro Rodriguez, Brian Redman and Leo Kinnunen at the wheel of the Porsche 917 K n.2 winner the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1970.

In the second place Jo Siffert and Brian Redman with the Porsche 917 K n.1 of J.W. Enginnering team with a gap of forty-five laps while in third position the Ferrari 512 S n.28 with Mario Andretti, Arturo Merzario and Jacky Ickx of Ferrari SEPAC SpA with a gap of forty-eight laps.
