HISTORY
The Porsche 550RS is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1958. Compared to the 550RS the biggest update was the new Spaceframe chassis, consisting of a considerably lighter and more rigid frame while the body design still followed that of its predecessor, but was distinguished by a louvered hatch on both sides behind the cockpit.
The Holland Carel Godin De Beaufort team with Carel Godin De Beaufort and Herbert Linge at the wheel of the Porsche 550A RS n.32 finished fifth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1958 with a gap of seventeen laps from winners.
The Ferrari 250 TR/58 n.12 of Phill Hill and Olivier Gendebien won the race, in second place the Aston Martin DB3S n.5 with Peter Whitehead and Graham Whitehead with a gap of twelve laps, while in third position the Porsche 718 RSK n.29 Jean Behra, Hans Hermann with a gap of fourteen laps.
