HISTORY

The Matra Simca MS670B is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1974. After the two consecutive victories with the Matra MS670 of 1972 and the Matra MS670B of 1973, the French manufacturer in the new version modified the gearbox and added a dynamic air intake over the pilot’s head giving more power to the engine. With the withdrawal of Ferrari in endurance races, Matra was the car to beat.

Bob Wollek, Jean-Pierre Jaussaud and Jose Dolhem at the wheel of the Matra Simca MS670B n.8 did not finish in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1974 due to broken engine after one hundred twenty laps. The race was won by Henry Pescarolo and Gerard Larrousse at the wheel of the Matra Simca MS670C n.7, in second place with six laps of distance came the Porsche 911 n.22 of Gijs van Lennep and Muller while in third position Jean-Pierre Jabouille and Francois Migault at the wheel of the Matra Simca MS670C n.9. The Matra MS670C during the season also won the World Sport Prototype Championship and at the end of the year announced the withdrawal.
