HISTORY
The TWR-Porsche WSC-95 is a prototype that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1996. The car was created by the collaboration between Tom Walkinshaw Racing and Porsche, and brought in the race by the highly decorated Team Joest. The WSC was approved to comply with the rules of the FIA, which obliged this category to have the cockpit uncovered.
The German Joest Racing team with Michele Alboreto, Pierluigi Martini and Didier Theys at the wheel of the TWR-Porsche WSC-95 n.8 did not finish the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1996 due to broken transmission after three hundred laps. The race was won by Manuel Reuter, Davy Jones and Alexander Wurz at the wheel of the TWR-Porsche WSC-95 n.7, in second the Porsche 911 GT1 n.25 with Hans-Joachim Stuck, Bob Wollek and Thierry Boutsen with a gap of one lap while in third position the Porsche 911 GT1 n.26 with Karl Wendlinger, Yannick Dalmas and Scott Goodyear with a gap of thirteen laps. The steady pace was able to compensate for the low speed against the GT1 Stuttgart, the prototypes Ferrari 333 SP and McLaren F1 GTR.
