HISTORY

The McLaren Mercedes Benz MP4/14 n.1 is the car with which the manufacturer of Woking took part in the Formula 1 World Championship in 1999. The MP4/14 designed by Neil Oatley and Adrian Newey, was an evolution of the McLaren MP4/13 who won the world championship in 1998 drivers and constructors. The biggest differences were on the evolution of the Mercedes engine whose power exceeded 570 kw.

Mika Hakkinen with the McLaren Mercedes Benz MP4/14 won the 1999 Formula One World Championship. During the season, the finn won five grand prizes: GP Brazil, GP Spain, GP Canada, GP Hungary and GP Japan. It was at the Grand Prix of Japan, the last of the season, that the world championship was decided that saw Hakkinen winning ahead of the Ferarri of Schumacher. The german because of the accident at the British GP broke his legs, and was forced to skip the races, Ferrari decided to head for the title on mate Irvine, but the irishman was not able to do the job. The Maranello team is satisfied with the constructors title.
