HISTORY

The Chrysler Viper GTS-R n.51 is a car that took part in the 1999 Le Mans 24 Hours. With the 1998 victory in the GTS class, the Oreca and Chrysler teams presented themselves in 1999 as the favorites to win. The car now at the peak of its success, showed up with eight cars lined up.

Olivier Beretta, Karl Wendlinger, Dominique Dupuy at the wheel of the Chrysler Viper GTS-R n.51 won the GTS class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1999. Starting from the twenty-seventh position they crossed the finish line in tenth position with a gap of forty laps from the BMW V12 LMR n.15 of Dalmas, Martini and Winkelhock winners of the competition.

During the season the Oreca and Olivier Beretta teams with the Chrysler Viper GTS-R won the American Le Mans Series Championship. The French driver won five races (Mosport, Sonoma, Portland, Road Atlanta and Laguna Seca) supported by several drivers. Beretta and Wendlinger won the FIA ​​GT Championship, winning six victories at Monza, Silverstone, Zolder, Oschersleben, Donington and Zhuhai.
