HISTORY

The Ligier – Ford Cosworth JS11/15 is a car that participated in the Formula 1 World Championship in 1980. The French team, after the good results of 1979 with the Ligier JS11, updated the car for the new season. Designers Gerard Decaurage and Michel Beaujon focused on increasing the ground effect. Jacques Laffitte with Ligier – Ford Cosworth JS11/15 n.26 finished fourth in the 1980 Formula 1 World Championship, achieving a victory.

The French driver despite the five podiums in the season and the victory in Germany failed to fight for the world title won by Alan Jones’s, with double points compared to French Williams FW07B. Laffitte and team-mate Didier Pironi in some races were forced to retire due to suspension problems or tire punctures, the cause was the excessive downforce created by the car.

The Ligier with two victories(Belgium and Germany), three pole positions and three fast laps, came second in the constructors’ championship.
