HISTORY
The Audi R8 is a prototype that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2001. The English Johansson Motorsport team with Stefan Johansson, Patrick Lemarie and Tom Coronel at the wheel of the Audi R8 n.4 did not finish at the 24 Hours Le Mans 2001 due to an electrical problem after driving thirty-five laps.
The race won to Emanuele Pirro, Frank Biella, Tom Kristensen with the Audi R8 n.1, second the Audi R8 n.2 of Laurent Aiello, Rinaldo Capello and Christian Pescatori, detached from a lap, while in third position Andy Wallace, Butch Leitzinger and Eric Van De Poele with the Bentley EXP Speed 8 n.8.
