HISTORY

The Rondeau M379B – Cosworth n.16 is the winning car of the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1980. Designed by its founder Jean Rondeau the French prototype was born from the bases of the Inaltera LM, the famous Ford Cosworth DFV was the engine used, tested for the duration races.

Rondeau and Jassaud won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1980 with the Rondeau M379B Cosworth n.16, is the first time that a driver wins with a car that bears his name. The race initially conditioned by the rain saw the furious comeback of the Porsche 908/80 n.9 of Jacky Ickx and Reinhold Joest faster, but at six hours of the end he had problems with the gearbox and lost three laps from the French car. The M379B ran the last hours of the race and won by two laps. Third at the finish line Gordon Spice, Philippe Martin and Jean-Michel Martin with the Rondeau M379B n.17
