HISTORY
The Porsche 956 is a car that participated at the 24 Hours Le Mans of 1982. After the victory with the Porsche 936 of 1981 the official Porsche team due to the new regulation, entrusted a new project to Norbert Singer. The new prototype proved to be fast and reliable dominating at Le Mans for the next four years.
The German Porsche Ag Rothmans team with Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell at the wheel of the Porsche 956 n.1 winner the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1982, the trio started from pole position, had no problem managing the race where the official team got a fantastic hat-trick with the other two cars deployed. Second at three laps came the Porsche 956 n.2 of Jochen Mass and Vern Schuppan and third at nineteen laps the Porsche 956 n.3 of Al Holbert, Hurley Haywood and Jurgen Barth. The opponents, Lancia and Rondeau never managed to counteract the excessive power of the Stuttgart cars.
