PEUGEOT 905 Evo1B n.1

HISTORY

The Peugeot 905 Evo1B is the prototype that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1992. The car was designed by Andre De Cortanze, under the supervision of the Sports Director Jean Todt who after the successes in the rally wished to undertake the Endurance adventure to win Le Mans. The 905 had a very advanced engine similar to those of Formula 1, so much to be able to supply in 1994 the engines at McLaren. Yannick Dalmas, Derek Warwick and Mark Blundell won the 1992 Le Mans 24 Hours with the Peugeot 905 Evo1B n.1, giving the French manufacturer the first victory.

In second place came the Toyota TS010 of Masanori Sekiya, Pierre-Henry Raphanel and Kenneth Acheson with a gap of six laps, while in third place the Peugeot 905 n.2 of Mauro Baldi, Philippe Alliot and Jean-Pierre Jabouille, with a gap of seven laps from the winner trio and who got the pole position with a record time thanks to the 905 usable only for the tests. In 1992 Peugeot also won the Sport Prototype Championship.
