HISTORY
The Porsche 936-77 is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1977. After the victory of the year before with the Porsche 936 n.20 the German manufacturer had to defend itself from the assault of the Renault that with its Alpine A442 was determined to win Le Mans before devoting himself fully to Formula 1.
The German Porsche System Martini team with Jacky Ickx, Henri Pescarolo at the wheel of the Porsche 936-77 n.3 did not finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1977. The Belgian rider started the race with the Porsche n.3, but the team-mate Pescarolo returned to the pits with the engine broken after 45 laps, he joined the crew along with Jurgen Barth, Jacky Ickx, Hurley Haywood with the Porsche 936-77 n.4, with whom they won the race. Taking advantage of the withdrawals of all four Renault A442 lines. Barth did the last two laps of the race after being stuck in the pits for forty minutes and I crossed the finish line with the engine in smoke due to a broken piston. In second place with a gap of eleven laps came the Mirage GR8 n.10 of Schuppan and Jarier, while in third place the Porsche 935 n.40 of Ballot-Lena and Gregg at twenty seven laps.
