Description
AUDI R8 n.1
HISTORY
The Audi R8 is a prototype that participated in the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2001. The German manufacturer after his first victory with the Audi R8 of the previous year, perfected the model by inserting the FSI system that allows a minor fuel consumption, allowing to postpone the pit stop. Frank Biella, Emanuele Pirro and Tom Kristensen won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2001 on the Audi R8 n.1. For the trio it was the second consecutive success, thanks to their attention and their regularity, not running into mistakes during the rain-conditioned race. Second Rinaldo Capello, Laurent Aiello and Christian Pescatori with the Audi R8 n.2.
In the American Le Mans Series, Biella and Pirro won the Grand Prix of Mosport, the Grand Prix of Las Vegas and the Petit Le Mans at the Road Atlanta circuit.
