HISTORY

The Cooper – Climax T51 is a car that participated at the Formula 1 World Championship in 1959. Thanks to the insight of John Cooper, the victory of the Ferrari 246 in the 1958 world championship was the last of a car with a front engine. The T51 derived from a Formula 2 car with a Coventry Climax engine mounted at the rear.

Jack Brabham with the Cooper – Climax T51 won the 1959 F1 World Championship, for the Australian rider was the first world title. The season was very balanced and decided only at the last race, Brabham won two Grand Prix wins in Monaco and Great Britain and thanks to the victory of teammate Bruce McLaren in the last race in the United States Grand Prix he managed to keep the advantage on the Maserati by Tony Brooks. Cooper won the Constructors World Championship thanks to the Stirling Moss victories.
