HISTORY
The Ferrari 166 MM is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1949. The Maranello manufacturer presented the car to the Turin auto show in 1948 and obtained the first victory in the Mille Miglia. After the forced break from the second world war, the French government finances the remake of the French track damaged by the bombings. The Italian team decided to compete with private teams.
Jean Lucas, ‘Ferret’ Pierre-Louis Dreyfus at the wheel of the Ferrari 166 MM n.23 did finished at the 24 hours of Le Mans 1949, due to accident after fifty-three laps. The race won by Ferrari 166 MM n.22 with Luigi Chinetti and Peter Mitchell-Thomson. In second place the Delage n.15 led by Henry Louveau and Juan Jover came second with a gap of one lap, while in third place the Frazer Nash High-Speed n.26 of Harold Aldington and Norman Culpan with a gap of eleven laps.
