HISTORY
The Ferrari 312 T4 is a car that participated at the Formula 1 World Championship in 1979. After the domination in 1978 of the Lotus 79 with its ground effect, all the opponents tried to copy this solution. Engineer Mauro Forghieri designed the new Ferrari trying to get a good ground effect, but the size of the V12 engine made it difficult. At the same time the engine proved to be the most powerful in the season.
Jody Scheckter with the Ferrari 312 T4 n.11 won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1979, for the South African rider was the first and only world title. The season was an all Ferrari duel between Scheckter and team-mate Gilles Villeneuve. At the French Grand Prix, the Canadian driver and Rene Arnoux on Renault gave life to one of the most beautiful Formula 1 duels. Scheckter won three Grand Prix in season: Belgium, Monaco and Italy where he mathematically graduated World Champion. Ferrari also won the constructors title.
