The Spanish Escuderia Montjuich team whit Nino Vaccarella and Jose Juncadella at the wheel of the Ferrari 512 M n.15 did not finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1971 due to the gearbox breakdown after covering one hundred eighty-six laps.
The race was won by Porsche 917 K n.22 of Gijs Van Lennep and Helmut Marko, second Richard Attwood, Herbert Muller whit the Porsche 917 K n.19, while third Sam Posey, Tony Adamowicz whit the Ferrari 512 M n.12.
