HISTORY
The McLaren – TAG Porsche MP4/2B is a car that participated at the 1985 Formula 1 World Championship. After dominating the 1984 World Cup with McLaren MP4/2, the Woking team was also a big favorite for the season 1985. The car was simply updated with engine upgrading, tire supplier change with Goodyear and rear wing modification due to regulation.
Alain Prost with the McLaren – TAG Porsche MP4/2B n.2 won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1985, for the French rider was the first career world title. The season was a duel between the McLaren team driver and Michele Alboreto Ferrari 156-85. Prost won five Grand Prix: Brazil, Monaco, Great Britain, Austria and Italy. The world fought hard for half the season went in favor of the French because of the many withdrawals that suffered the Italian driver. McLaren also thanks to Niki Lauda‘s victory at the Dutch Grand Prix also won the Constructors’ World Championship.
