HISTORY
The Mirage GR8 Cosworth is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1976. The car was designed expressly for the French race by the team of John Wyer supported by the oil sponsor Gulf, the English team manager had announced the withdrawal, but I think about it after the change of regulation that greatly limited consumption and that led to the renunciation of many official builders. The American Grand Touring Cars Inc. team with Derek Bell amd Vern Schuppan at the wheel of the Mirage GR8 – Cosworth n.11 finished fifth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1976 with a gap of twenty-three laps from the winners.
The race won by Jacky Ickx and Gijs van Lennep at the wheel of the Porsche 936 n.20, in second place Jean-Louis Lafosse and Francois Migault at the wheel of the Mirage GR8 – Cosworth n.10, while in third place the DeCadenet n.12 of Chris de Cadenet and Alain Craft at twelve laps.
