HISTORY
The Porsche 908-80 is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1981. After the victory three years without wins the official team of the Stuttgart manufacturer decides to return to Le Mans thanks to the modifications of the regulation, which allows for the Gruupo 6 category the use of a motor without displacement limitations.
The German Joest Porsche Racing team with Reinhold Joest, Dale Whittington and Klaus Niedzwiedz at the wheel of the Porsche 908-80 n.14 did not finish at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1981 due to accident after sixty laps. The race won by Derek Bell and Jacky Ickx at the wheel of the Porsche 936-81 n.11 that starting from the Pole Position dominated the race from start to finish without problems, the Belgian despite the announcement of the withdrawal at the races, accepted the call of the Porsche. In second place with a gap of fourteen laps the arrival of Rondeau M379C n.8 of Jean-Louis Schlesser, Philippe Streiff, Jacky Haran, and while on the third the Rondeau M379C n.7 of Gordon Spice and Francois Migault.
