HISTORY

The Porsche 917 K is the car that participated at the 12 Hours of Sebring of 1971. The German manufacturer decided to win his first 24 hours of Le Mans, follow the suggestion of Team John Wyer Automotive Engineering, solving the problem of instability affecting the 917, the rear was shortened and raised creating a sort of arrow profile that also improved the cooling of the rear mechanics. The Martini & Rossi Racing team with Vic Elford and Gerard Larrousse at the wheel of the Porsche 917 K n.3 winner the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1971.

In the second place Nanni Galli and Rolf Stommelen with the Alfa Romeo T33/3 n.33 of Autodelta Spa team with a gap of three laps while in third position the Alfa Romeo T33/3 n.32 of Autodelta Spa team with Andrea De Adamich, Nino Vaccarella and Henri Pescarolo with a gap of twelve laps.
